Sridevi on Jhanvi’s film career: It’s not fair to compare star kids with parents

That actor Sridevi isn’t comfortable with her daughters Jhanvi and Khushi being under media glare is something she has spoken about. But as speculation around 20-year-old Jhanvi’s big Bollywood debut gains steam, Sridevi refutes the assumption that star kids have it easy in the film industry.

“It’s more responsibility for star kids. Instead of having things easy, expectation is higher. They are compared to their parents, and that’s unfair,” says the 53-year-old. She adds, “If you’re not good, it’s not going to be a cakewalk even if you are a star kid. In fact, it’s the opposite. There’s more pressure on them and they have to work harder.”

Having reportedly bagged a role in the remake of a Marathi film, Jhanvi is rumoured to be making her Bollywood debut in a Karan Johar film. Sridevi says that she would’ve liked Jhanvi’s debut to be a “big surprise” for everyone.

“I’m concerned about my children being so much in the media. I would’ve been happy if Jhanvi would all of a sudden star in a movie. Now, she is already in the media. But yes, the times have changed, so you better accept it,” says Sridevi, who stars in the upcoming film, Mom.

The actor, however, says that it may just be her nervousness as a parent, because Jhanvi seems to be at ease with the paparazzi. “You can see from the pictures that she is very calm and comfortable. The children, nowadays, are smart and practical. They are [way more] chilled out,” she says.
