The National Testing Agency, NTA has recently extended the application correction dates till May 3, 2020, on request of Minister of HRD Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank. The agency had earlier stated that the admit cards for NEET-UG 2020 will be released on April 15, 2020, after the lockdown is called off. Now that the lockdown has been extended the candidates are speculating a delay in the release of admit cards.

As per the recently released notification, the NEET UG aspirants can change their examination centres through the application correction window on the official website till May 3, 2020. The candidates are advised to visit the official website ntaneet.ac.in before 11:50 PM on May 3.

The candidates would have to wait for the admit cards for some time more due to the following reasons:

  1. The agency has after the request of Ramesh Pokhariyal sought final responses from the candidates about the change in exam centres till May 3, 2020. The deadline earlier was April 14, 2020, which has now been extended.
  2. This, in turn, means that the NTA will be gathering the data on the centres of the candidates till May 3, 2020, now. The admit cards are quite unlikely to be released unless the centres are finalised. Thus the candidates must now expect the release of the admit cards only after the lockdown is lifted or after May 3.
  3. The major reason that cannot be ignored is the outbreak of the pandemic and social distancing being the only way till now to control its spread. The NTA had earlier agreed upon the fact that the heath of the students of India was far more important than the academic calendars. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had earlier released the guidelines to avoid social gatherings which included various competitive exams as well.

The candidates can expect their admit cards 15 days prior to the exam dates if previous trends are to be trusted. The NTA had announced that the JEE Main and NEET-UG would be conducted by May end which as per the sources are unlikely to be changed. The candidates are advised to follow the official website of NTA for regular updates.
