Army recruitment rally deferred due to rains

Thousands of candidates, who arrived here from various districts to participate in Army recruitment rally, were disappointed with the postponement of the event.  Actually, the Army recruitment rally is scheduled to be conducted from October 6 to 16 for the candidates of six districts.

Applicants from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Vizag, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Yanam are required to participate in the recruitment rally to get into various positions of Indian Army.

As per schedule, around 7,000 applicants reached Vizianagaram from various destinations but on Thursday, just one day before the commencement of the event, the town received heavy rain and entire stadium, including running track, was totally submerged in rain water. Collector Vivek Yadav and others visited the stadium and tried to bring the situation under control by dumping some dry sand, but in vain.

Finally, the army officers decided to stop the process for two more days till the stadium gets dry. “If the running track gets dry within two days, we will initiate measures to start the rally,” the Collector said and added that the next date would be announced soon.
