In his speech Dr.Sandeep Sancheti explained all the features of the new education policy, it’s outcome, and how it benefits the country as a whole. He briefed the overarching vision and comprehensive framework of NEP 2020 for both school and higher education. Further, he detailed the impact of NEP2020 as a new regulator proposed for higher education with separate verticals for regulation, standard-setting, accreditation, and funding.
He said that the NEP2020 would absorb arts and science, technical and teacher knowledge into its fold, replace several existing regulatory bodies, and ensure a level playing field for public and private players.
He added this new educational policy is mainly student-centric and highly flexible. For students, the most meaningful change may be introducing four-year undergraduate degrees, with options for entry and exit at various stages, a credit transfer system, and abolishing the M Phil program.
The keynote address mainly focused on the roadmap to achieve the GER 50% in the next 15 years. The resource person discussed the challenges of implementation aspects and the merits of the NEP 2020.
