Starting in the fall of 2017, Loyola University Maryland will offer a study abroad program in Dubai at The American University of Dubai. The one-semester program is open to all majors.
The American University of Dubai is a private, non-sectarian institution of higher learning founded in 1995, which embraces liberal studies.
The program caters to all majors with featured courses in engineering and accounting. The program is also designed for students studying Arabic and/or Middle Eastern studies who are looking to enhance the cultural experience outside the classroom.
Students in the program have the opportunity to apply to the William Jefferson Clinton scholarship, a scholarship at the American University in Dubai that provides American students the financial means to continue to expand their educational and cultural horizons in the Arab world.
“It’s a very unique study abroad experience,” said Naomi Githae, assistant director of international programs. “Dubai is a modernized Islamic city within the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Each emirate in UAE has a set of laws, traditions, and cultures.”
Loyola offers programs in 18 countries, eight exchange programs, and two affiliate programs. In 2015, Loyola began programs in South Africa and Greece. In 2018, Loyola will open a program in Budapest.
